Today we finally finished our rockest with Ms Ferguson and Mr. Dunn. After we finished our 3D rockets, we went outside to the field and flew them in the air. It was really awesome as well because Ms Ferguson got the drone and took videos of the students shooting their rockets in the air. We really enjoyed our day, as well as learning a little bit more about the physics of science. Thank you Mr. Dunn and Ms Ferguson these awesome two Fridays.
This blog is a record of my learning from Panmure Bridge Primary School through to Tamaki College.

Rocket Follow Up DLO: Fair Testing
Last Friday on the 2nd of December 2016, all of us year 7 and 8's traveld by bus to Tamaki College to build and learn about rockets. We first had to do fair testing with our straw rockets. We recorded our plane results and answered all the questions inside this google slide. Have a look at our predictions and our conclusions.

Neil Armstrong
This term for one of our inquiry topics was flight. This last task as we have recently searched about Jean Batten, we had to search up another aviator (guy pilot/flyer) or aviatrix (women pilot/flyer) and make a timeline about them. I chose Neil Armstrong. What I found about him that was similar to Jean Batten was that his parents (or one of their parents) pushed them to achieve their dream in flight.

Paper Flying in LS2

Today at school for maths we were throwing paper planes. Our learning intention was to design and make a paper plane that will fly the further est. Our tasks today was making a team paper plane and analysing our measurements. To get our designs for our paper plane we looked at all of our groups paper planes that they have made and put our ideas together. We use my plane length and Gozan's wingspan. Then when Gozan flew the plane, it didn't go as far as we though but it was still a good try. At the end our measurements for the first throw was 4.15 metres, second throw was 7.89 metres, and our last throw was 5.66 metres, and our final throw was 4.57 metres.

Jean Batten Timeline
Yesterday and today we have been making a timeline for Jean Batten. In the timeline I have made I have done a ten year algorithm, and in between those ten years I add the extra little dates to show the events that happened in her life. On the side I also have the references (websites where I got my information). But if those don't work on my DLO I have them here and here.

The Forces of Flight
Today for inquiry we learnt about the physics of flight. This is my DLO I have made on flight. Lift and thrust is what makes the plane go up and drag plus weight keeps the plane down. Gravity also keeps the plane from coming off the face of the earth. Like if a planes engine stopped working, it wouldn't float to the left or the right, it would crash straight into the ground. That it because gravity pulls thing to the earth. We also learnt Newton's first law ( which is on my DLO too ).
