Today in LS2 we had some children from room 4 and 3 come up to our class. As they entered our classroom, our teacher ordered us to pick a buddy to read with. Ma'ata and I went with a little girl from room 3. We read her a book called "Just a Bush". She was a very good reader. It was a really good way to help them read.

PBS Character Parade
Today our school had a great Book Character Parade. What is a Character Parade you ask? Well, it is sort of when you dress like a character from a book. It can even be one of your favourite books. One of our teachers, Ms Maude, was the organizer of this years Character Parade. The purpose of this event was to bring books alive for the younger students and juniors. I dressed up as a witch from a book called The Worst Witch. My friend also joined me and came as a cat. I thought everybody had a fantastic time.

advertising and their language features
Today our teacher gave us a task to explain what advertising is, their purpose, and what language features they used. As a group, we read and searched up what advertising was. But first our teacher gave us a dictation challenge. We were given a piece of paper to stick on the window. Then when the teacher said 'Go', one person had to read the paper, the other person had to tell the writer what the words were, and lastly the writer had to write as quick as possible. Later on our teacher gave us another challenge which was to write down what advertising meant, it's purpose, and what language features they use (as seen above).

Attributes and Images - Charlize and Jessie
Today we were learning how and why we attribute our photos. We attribute our photos to show thanks to the person who took the photo. Attributing photos is also quite easy to do, except when you have to get the authors name, license, and website.First we clicked on search tools then went to Usage Rights then we clicked on labeled for use. after did that we went to go and visit the site. When we finished on the site we had to find the person who put it up on images and the license.
Adding decimals
Today I have made a DLO on how to add decimal fractions. Our learning intention was adding with decimal fractions. This also gives tips on what to do when you add decimals together. Like to add the tenths first, then you add the ones. But make sure the decimal points are in line.

Ruapotaka blog commenting
Today we have been posting blog comments on some of Ruapotaka School's blog. I chose three blogs and commented on them. The work that these people did was really good. Their posts are very good.
Leadership Talk
Yesterday we had a lady called Lynne Le Gros from Spark, came in our school teaching us about leadership.
Why was she talking about leadership? Well, one of the reasons why is because it was leadership week. And who better to talk about on leadership day, than Sir Peter Blake. If you don't know who that is, he was a sailor who won in the 1989 to 1997 race around the world. He had the fastest time, so he made New Zealand very proud. Sadly, one day his ship was attacked by pirates and was murdered. So he is a great example of leadership because he believed in himself. After her speech on Sir Peter Blake, she gave aus a piece of paper and told us to right down who we look up to as a role model and why. After that she gave us a card (picture above) to write down what we wanted to be when we got older and what our dream for NZ would be. Lastly, we received some gifts from Lynne.
